VOBGetter℠ Setup

  • Updated

VOBGetter℠ allows instantaneous patient insurance eligibility verification and provides basic benefit information. This feature also allows you to view the patient's verification history.

This article focuses on configuring the VOBGetter feature in your Kipu Instance. For information on how to verify patient eligibility and benefits with VOBGetter, click here. Only Super Admins can complete this process.

Instance Settings

Enable the Kipu Insurance Service from the Instance settings tab. This is required to use the VOBGetter.

  1. Click on your initials and select Settings.
  2. Open the Instance tab.
  3. Check the Kipu Insurance Service box.
  4. From the Facesheet insurance select drop-down, choose Only allow insurance from autocomplete or Only allow payers from Custom Payers list
    • Selecting one of these options prevents users from entering insurances that don't appear on the Insurance Service, making it more likely that the VOBGetter will be able to verify the patient's benefit information. This is important because if users are allowed to add any insurance they want to the facesheet, it's likely the VOBGetter won't be able to match the custom insurance to a payer in their database, and insurance benefits won't be able to be verified automatically.
  5. Scroll to the end of the page and click Submit.

Set up the VOBGetter Konnector

Don't see the VOBGetter Konnector? Please reach out to Support to enable VOBGetter℠ for your instance.

  1. Click on your initials and select Settings.
  2. Open the Integrations tab and select Konnectors.mceclip2.png
  3. Click New Konnector.mceclip3.png
  4. Name the Konnector and select Vob Getter from the Konnector type drop-down. Click Register. mceclip4.png
  5. Check Use this vendor.mceclip5.png
  6. For users with a master instance, please select the Locations that can use the VOBGetter. Because you can only add one VOB Getter Konnector per instance, ensure any locations that need to use this service are selected here.
  7. Complete the Facility Information section. Because you are only adding one Konnector, please select any location's information to include here. It doesn't matter which location but we typically recommend picking your main location or the first location you opened.  mceclip8.png
    • Facility Name: Name of your facility.
    • Provider NPI: NPI number of the facility or provider that will inquire/verify benefits.
    • Provider Tax ID: Tax ID of the facility.
    • Contact Email: Point of contact if there are any issues with the VOB Getter. This is typically the main Super Admin in the facility.
    • Billing Email: Email for the billing point of contact in the facility.
    • Coupon Code: no current function.
    • LeeRCM App ID: Once the Terms and Conditions are accepted, this field will automatically populate.
  8. Enter your Billing Address and Rendering Address. These addresses may be the same. mceclip9.png
    • Billing Address: This is typically the headquarters or main location.
    • Rendering Address: This is the location providing treatment.
  9. You can ignore the Monitoring section. VOBGetter only provides manual verification of individual eligibility from the patient chart when needed.mceclip10.png
  10. Please ensure the VOBGetter Phone/Enqueue section is set to Disabled. This feature does not currently work with the EMR and will create unnecessary popups when trying to verify benefits. mceclip12.png
  11. Accept the Terms and Conditions: Read thoroughly, and click Accept or Do Not Accept. If you do not accept, you won't be able to use the service.
  12. Your information is sent to LeeRCM for registration.
  13. Click Update.

Vendor Verification History (Hx)

From the Integrations > Konnector section, you can view a history of all insurance verification transactions by clicking on the button for the VOBGetter Konnector.

Each transaction is listed with the patient name, benefit, who requested the verification and when, when the verification was received, the status, and insurance ID.

Medicare and Medicaid

You can also complete eligibility checks for Medicare and Medicaid using the VOBGetter.

To use this feature, please reach out to the Support team to submit an Enrollment Request. Please note that this can take 2-3 weeks to process.

Next, please add your Tax ID, NPI, Medicaid ID and/or Medicare PTAN to each of your Locations. If this information is the same across all locations, you can just update the Company. mceclip16.png

User Settings

Once the VOBGetter℠ Konnector is enabled, additional user roles are available in the user profile.

Super Admins and Records Admins already have the VOBGetter capabilities built into their roles. Use the following steps to add the ability for other users to verify benefits:

  1. Click on your initials and select Manage Users.

  2. Edit the user profile.
  3. Scroll to the Konnectors section.mceclip13.png
  4. Provide VOBGetter Admin or VOBGetter User to the user. These roles currently have the same capabilities. Enabling either of these roles in a user's profile will allow the user access to the VOBGetter℠ Instant button and legacy Notifications.

VOBGetter℠ Notifications

Super Admins can configure three notifications related to the VOBGetter:

  • VOBGetter Status - Active: Display a notification when the patient's insurance verification returns an Active result.
  • VOBGetter Status - Inactive: Display a notification when the patient's insurance verification returns an Inactive result.
  • VOBGetter Status - Error: Display a notification when the patient's insurance verification returns an error.

Notifications are location-specific and can be configured in the Notifications tab, following these instructions

Long-time VOBGetter users will notice that the legacy VOBGetter Notifications have been automatically created within the new notification system. These defaults can be updated from the Notifications page. mceclip1.png
