Transfer Inventory between Locations

In the Inventory, medications can be transferred to other locations using the Transfer to Another Location transaction type. To transfer a medication successfully, the only requirement is that the bottle must be brand new and unopened.  

To transfer a medication bottle to another location, use the following steps. 

  1. Click on the Inventory tab.blobid0.png
  2. Click on Last Transaction Type column to find bottles marked as “Received”. The bottle must not be checked out and should have the Received status as the last transaction type.  blobid1.png
  3. Click on the medication you want to transfer to another location.blobid2.png
  4. Review all the medication details and click the Add Transaction button.mceclip1.png
  5.  In the Add Transaction window, select Transfer to another location from the drop-down list. mceclip2.png
  6. Select the name of the desired destination from the Location drop-down list.mceclip3.png
  7. Review the medication serial number of the bottle and confirm that it is accurate in the Serial Number field. If any changes need to be made, update the serial number here prior to recording the transfer.
  8. Click on the Performed Date and Time field and select the date from the calendar. Use the sliders to adjust the time that the medication was opened.mceclip4.png
  9. Add notes and attachments if needed.
  10. If necessary, enter the name of the staff member who witnessed the transaction in the Witness field. Click here to learn more about the witness signature workflow.mceclip5.png
  11. Click on the Sign and Submit button.
  12.  Sign in the box and click Submit.

  13. The system will show the Transfer to Another Location transaction at the top, and include medication information, staff member credentials, and timestamps.blobid6.png
  14. If you click on the transaction link, you can see the medication transfer details.blobid7.png
  15. The bottle will now appear in the receiving location’s Inventory. Confirm the transfer by clicking on the location to which the medication was transferred and review the Inventory. 
  16. Click on the Last Transaction Type column, filter by “Received”, and confirm the medication name, strength, serial number, lot number, and updated date.blobid8.png
