Konnectors: Kipu RCM

  • Updated

A Konnector is an electronic link between the EMR and RCM that opens a line of communication with which information is transmitted between the two systems. The Kipu RCM Konnector ensures that data from the Kipu EMR is routed to the correct facility in the RCM, including patient information and the rendering provider.

Konnector Configurations

In the RCM, each Organization must have at least one practice and one facility that lives within that practice. Each facility within a practice must have its own Konnector set up in the Kipu EMR.

Configuration Examples:

  • One to One: 2 Kipu Locations and 2 RCM Facilities = 2 Konnectors
  • One to Many: 1 Kipu Location and 2 RCM Facilities = 2 Konnectors. In this instance, Bill by Program or Bill by Building will need to be configured on the Kipu side as well to ensure the patient information is routed to the correct RCM Facility.
  • Many to One: 3 Kipu Locations and 1 RCM Facility = 1 Konnector.

Add New Rendering Provider

The new Billing Provider must be set up in the Kipu EMR and in the RCM as a Rendering Provider for the EMR Location/RCM Practice and referenced at the RCM Facility tied to the Konnector you are updating.

Check out the following instructions for adding the provider: Kipu EMR Rendering Provider | RCM Rendering Provider.

Important: Ensure the provider name and NPI match exactly between the two systems.

How to Update the Rendering Provider on a Konnector

  •
    1. To begin, click on your initials and then click Settings
    2. Then click the Konnectors tab.
    3. Open the RCM Konnector that needs to be edited by clicking on the pencil icon.
    4. Update the Billing Provider NPI, Billing Provider Last Name, and Billing Provider First Name.

Helpful Hints

  • Once created, konnectors can only be deleted if they have not been used on a patient chart.
  • If a konnector has been disabled, clicking on the Send to Kipu RCM button will result in an error message stating that the konnector is disabled.
