Signature Pads: Overview

The Kipu EMR currently supports two manufacturers of signature pads: Scriptel® and Topaz®. A signature pad allows your patients and users to sign EMR consent forms using an electronic pad and a pen.    

Please note that the drivers and hardware are designed and maintained by the respective manufacturers. Kipu has no control over its features and software updates.

Each Kipu EMR Single Instance supports one web driver. Master Instances support multiple drivers and the combination of Scriptel and Topaz signature pads, with one driver per location. If your selected signature pad is not detected, you can still sign with your mouse/touchpad/touchscreen instead.

Most signature pads require the installation of special drivers in order to be used with web browsers and Kipu. Read Signature Pad: Installation Instructions article for more details.  

• Scriptel signature pads can be used with both Windows-based PCs and MAC computers.
• Topaz signature pads can be used with Windows-based PCs.
