Navigating MAT Orders

The MAT Order tab on the patient chart houses all the crucial information about the patient's active and past orders. Additionally, users can create change orders, exception orders, and cancel/discontinue the order. This tab also allows the ordered medication to be dispensed to the patient (or denied). Each section is reviewed in detail below.

MAT Order

Dosing Information

This section displays the patient’s dosing information based on the currently active MAT Order(s).

  1. Next Window Dose: The dosage the patient will receive upon their next window dose.
  2. Last Window Dose: The dosage the patient received at their last window dose.
  3. Intake Dose: The initial dose given to the patient on the initial MAT Order created upon admission.
  4. Current Take Out Bottles: The number of empty bottles the patient is expected to return with based on the number of takeouts dispensed during the Last Window Date.
  5. Next Window Date: When the patient is scheduled to return for dosing.
  6. Last Window Date: The last time the medication was dispensed to the patient.
  7. Intake Date: Date of admission.

Current/Active Order

By default, the Current/Active Order section displays the patient's active MAT Order. If a different order is selected from Order History, this section’s name will change to “Order Details” and the details for the selected order will be displayed.

  • Medication: The type of MAT medication ordered. 
  • Schedule on-site days: The days the patient will be in the facility.
  • Dose: The patient’s current dose. This will update over time for Taper and Titration order types.

  • Route: How the medication is taken.
  • Dosage Form: The form of the medication. If multiple forms are possible, this field will display all potential forms like “films/tablets”.
  • Strength: For non-combination medications, this displays the standard strength, e.g., 10mg/ml. For combination medications, this displays as “Combo”.
  • Order Type: For regular MAT Orders (not Exceptions), will display the type of Order, either Standard, Taper, Titration, or Interval.
  • Start Date: The day the MAT Order was started (or is scheduled to start, if in the future).
  • End Date: The day the MAT Order ended (if viewing a previous Order) or is scheduled to end (if in the future). This can be blank if no date is entered. After this date, no doses will generate for this order.
  • Blind Dose: If Yes, the order dose will be hidden from the patient when collecting their signature.

  • Split Dose: If the order includes Split Doses, each split dose will display.
  • Note: Any notes entered in the order will show in this section.
  • Ordered by: The Doctor who initiated the order and how the order was communicated (via).
  • Entered By: The user who entered the order.
  • Reviewed By: Ordering doctor’s signature.
  • Phase Information: This section displays the phase assigned to the patient from this order with the phase requirements. This does not restrict users when entering Orders.

  • New Order: This button allows the user to create a new MAT Order for the patient. This button only appears when the existing order has an End Date. 
  • Change Order: Copies the patient's current order and allows users to make updates to the order (e.g., updating phase or dosage. When saved, the previous order is automatically discontinued and this new order is set as the Current/Active Order. 
  • Exception Order: Exception orders allow you to dispense additional medication to the patient. This can be due to an approved vacation, family emergency, etc. 
  • Cancel Order/Discontinue Order: This button appears as Cancel Order until the doses have been dispensed to the patient. Once doses are dispensed, you can use the Discontinue Order button to cancel the order. 

Note: If doses are currently being dispensed to the patient by another user, the following message will appear in this section stating "Doses being dispensed, please wait until dosing is completed to make changes". The MAT Order cannot be changed while dispensing is in progress.mceclip0.png

Doses to Dispense

Lists all doses available to dispense based on Current/Active MAT Order(s).

  1. Dispense: Checkbox to select doses to dispense.
  2. Dose Date: The date the patient is scheduled to take the dose.
  3. Amount: The amount of the dose.
  4. Dose Type: Window or Take Out
  5. Dispense Date: Date doses are to be dispensed on (current date).
  6. Paid: Indicates if the dose was paid for facilities using Patient Ledger. 
  7. ☰: Allows users to deny doses.
  8. Dispense button: Takes the user to the Dispensing screen.

Dispensed Doses

The Dispensed Doses section displays doses that were dispensed on the patient’s last window visit.

  1. Dose Date: The date the patient was scheduled to take the dose.
  2. Amount: Amount of the medication dispensed.
  3. Dose Type: Whether the dose was a Window or Takeout.
  4. Dispensed Time: When the doses were dispensed.
  5. ☰: Allows users to print labels.

To view the full dosing history for a patient, users should view the MAT Log tab (see below).

Order History

The Order History section displays all of the patient’s previous MAT Orders, including orders that were canceled prior to dispensing. The patient's active order is highlighted in blue, all other orders are grayed out.

  1. Start Date: The first day order was active.
  2. End Date: Last day the order was active.
  3. Phase: The phase selected on the order.
  4. Order Type: The type of MAT order.
    • Regular Orders: Standard, Taper, Titration, Interval
    • Exception Orders: Add Dose(s), Special Takeout Onsite, or Special Takeout Offsite
  5. Medication: The ordered medication.
  6. Dose: The ordered dose.
  7. Instructions: The medication dosing schedule.
  8. Ordered by: The user who initiated the order.
  9. Entered by: The user that entered the order.
  10. Discontinued by: The user who discontinued the order.
  11. Status: Current status of the order and order signature
  12. History Icon: clicking the History Icon will expose Deleted orders. Clicking again will hide Deleted Orders.
