Call Backs: SMS Consent Forms

  • Updated

Before SMS messages can be sent to a patient, they must complete and sign a SMS Consent form.

Required Permissions: Super Admins or users with the Manage Templates feature enabled can configure the SMS Consent form. Click here to learn more about SMS Consent Form Set Up.

Once the SMS Consent checkbox is enabled and the SMS consent option has been added to the template, the form will display a radio button with Yes and No options in the patient chart.A screenshot of a computer

This functionality allows the patient to consent to receive SMS communications for call backs or decline them.

Let’s review the feature’s behavior.

  1. If Yes is selected and the Consent form is completed, the patient’s consent has been given and they will receive text messages for call backs. A screenshot of a medical form

  2. If the patient selected Yes and signed the consent, the Send SMS option will be available in the Call Back form, and they will receive a text message about the call back when you click Save. A screenshot of a computer screen

  3. If No is selected and the consent form is completed, the patient’s consent was not given, meaning that the patient cannot be texted about call backs. A screenshot of a computer screen

  4. If the patient selected No and signed the consent, the Send SMS option will be disabled in the Call Back form, and they will not receive a text message.A screenshot of a computer

Note

  • When more than one consent form includes the SMS consent field in the patient chart, the system will use the response in the most recent form to determine whether or not to send an SMS message.

  • If a completed consent form is deleted from a chart, and there’s no other SMS consent form present, the system will behave as if consent was denied, and the Send SMS option will be disabled in the call back.
