Treatment Episodes: End Episode

Kipu EMR allows you to end a single treatment episode for patients with multiple active treatment episodes. When you end an episode, the system marks it as Completed while maintaining any remaining active episodes.

End an Episode in the Patient Chart

Follow these steps to end a treatment episode:

In the patient's current location, click Manage.
The Episode of Care Summary window displays the patient’s active treatment episodes. In this example, the patient’s chart has In Progress treatment episodes in both the Demo Detox and Demo Adolescent locations.
Click End Episode.
Assign the end date, select the location where you want to end the episode, then click Save. In this example, the Demo Detox location is selected.
Once ended, the Episode of Care Summary displays the treatment episode with the Completed status for the selected location.
The patient’s chart is removed from the current census, but you can still locate the patient using the Search Bar to finalize any pending documentation.
The Episode of Care Summary continues to display any remaining treatment episodes as In Progress.

Undo the End Episode

Use Undo when the entire event needs to be removed. Example: If you Ended the Episode to the incorrect location. Undo is only available when the transition is the most recent event, and no documentation is attached to that episode.

Open the Episode of Care Summary and click the Undo icon next to the Staff icon to remove the entire End Episode event.
Enter the reason for the undo and click Undo Event.
The system restore the Ended Episode.
The undo Ended Episode will appear grayed out to indicate it has been modified.
Click the Information (i) icon to view the staff member’s name and the reason of ending the episode. You can click on the Staff icon to see who ended the episode and the timestamp.
