Billing Audit Tool: Location Settings

Location Settings allow you to determine specific billing settings for individual location behavior, including which billing system they're integrated with. If no selections are made in Billing Settings, the locations will follow the Instance configuration. 

Manage Location Settings

Let's review how to manage your Location settings.

  1. To begin, click on your initials and then click Settings
  2. Then click the Billing Audit Tool tab.
  1. Next, click Location Settings.
  2. The Location Settings table displays all active locations in your instance with their related settings. Use the Location drop-down to view all, or choose a specific location.
  3. To update a location's settings, click the Edit icon.
  4. For each location, you have the following options:
    1. Interface Type: Select the billing system integrated with this location. This field will default to the interface type chosen in the instance's settings (in this case, Collaborate MD was set as the instance default). 
      • If you select HL7 SFTP Upload, the SFTP Konnector field will appear and you will also need to choose the Konnector from the SFTP Konnector drop-down. You must have at least one Konnector configured for this location before the EMR can share data/charges with the billing system. See the following articles for setting up Konnectors: Kipu RCM | HL7 Download. Results will only be enabled, billable, and non-ancillary.

         
    2. Group Billable Items on Billing Report (Only applicable to CMD and HL7):
      • Choosing Show will display the Group checkbox on the Billing Report, allowing services to be grouped on the claim.
      • Choosing Hide will prevent this option from appearing on the Billing Report.
      • The Instance option shows how this setting is configured in your instance and will display Show or Hide in parentheses.
    3. Billing By Program
      • Choosing Enable will display programs on the Konnectors. You will not be able to enable billing by building if you chose this option.
      • Choosing Disable  will prevent programs from displaying on Konnectors. You will be able to select Disable in the Enable Billing By Building field.
      • The Instance option shows how this setting is configured in your instance's settings and will display Enable or Disable in parentheses.
      • What is Bill by Program?
        • Kipu RCM: Allows users to choose which Kipu RCM practice and rendering provider the billable items should be associated with based on the Program the patient is assigned to.
        • CMD: Allows users to track metrics and run reports by the Program the patient is assigned to.
    4. Billing by Building:
      • Choosing Enable will display buildings on the Konnectors. You will not be able to enable billing by program if you choose this option.
      • Choosing Disable will prevent buildings from displaying on Konnectors. You will be able to select Disable in the Enable Billing By Program field.
      • The Instance option shows how this setting is configured in your instance's settings and will display Enable or Disable in parentheses.
      • What is Bill by Building?
        • Kipu RCM: Allows users to choose which Kipu RCM practice and rendering provider the billable items should be associated with based on the Building the patient is assigned to.
        • CMD: Allows users to track metrics and run reports by the Building the patient is assigned to.
  5. Click OK to save your updates.

A Note About Instance Settings

When no selections are made for the Location, the system will respect the Instance Settings (enabled by Kipu Staff). These display as Instance Setting with the selected value in parentheses.
