MAT Patient Identifiers

  • Updated

The Kipu EMR has a few options for patient identifiers. MR Number is used by all facilities and MAT facilities also use Patient ID and CID (if integrated with the central registry).

Enable Patient ID and CID

These identifiers must be enabled in the Instance Settings by a Super Admin before they will be available for use.

  1. To begin, click on your initials and then click Settings
  2. Then click the Instance tab.
  1. Scroll to the Patient Options section:mceclip2.png
    • Check Enable Patient ID. This ID is required to use Queues and will be used to identify the patient in the Queue, TV Display, on dose labels, and appears on Topaz signature pads.
    • Check Use CID only if you are integrated with the Central Registry for your MAT facility. This is a unique ID that allows you to report the patients in your current census with their doses to the Central Registry. This is required to interface with Lighthouse Systems.
  2. Scroll to the end of the page and click Submit to save your changes.

Configure MR and ID Strings

MAT facilities must configure the MR Number and Patient ID formats for each facility location under Company Settings. Super Admins can complete the following configuration.

  1. To begin, click on your initials and then click Settings
  2. Then click the Company tab.
  1. Click on the edit icon next to the location.
  2. Set up the MR Format with the MR prefix and the Patient ID Format with the ID prefix (and optional suffix) for each location.
    • Note: The MR number prefix allows you to easily distinguish MR Numbers between locations. Most facilities use the initials of the location name. For example, if the facility’s name is Kipu Learn MAT the MR prefix would be KLM.
  3. Repeat the procedure for each facility location.
