Settings: MAT Tab

  • Updated

In this section, Super Admins will be able to configure:

  • The label printer used at the facility
  • The Duration for Start and End of Day procedures
  • Dosing signature requirements, quantity preferences, and manual dosing

Accessing MAT Settings

  1. To begin, click on your initials and then click Settings
  2. Then click the MAT tab.
  1. The Settings section is opened by default.
  2. Label Printer: The label printer allows you to print window labels and take-home labels to identify the medication bottles. Dymo and Dymo_connect are the two supported label printers for Kipu EMR. To learn more about configuring label printers, click here.mceclip2.png
  3. Start of Day (Time in Secs): This section allows you to configure the amount of time in seconds required to empty cleaning solutions and prime medications during the Start of a Day Process. These values may vary depending on the length of the medication tubing at the facility. • Empty Cleaning Solution: Enter the number of seconds the pump should take to empty the cleaning solution out of the medication tubing prior to starting a shift. You can free-type the numbers or use the up and down arrows to adjust the time.
    • Prime Medication: Configure the number of seconds the pump medication will take to be primed through the medication tubing. You can free-type the numbers or use the up and down arrows to adjust the time.
  4. End of Day (Time in Secs): This section allows you to configure the amount of time in seconds required to empty the medication and prime the cleaning solution during the End of Day Process. Click here to learn more about the Pump Screen: End of Day Process.   mceclip4.png
    • Empty Medication: Type the number of seconds a pump should take to empty medication out of medication tubing during the end of a day procedure. You can free-type the numbers or use the up and down arrows to adjust the time.
    • Prime Cleaning Solution: Configure the number of seconds the pump takes to prime the cleaning solution through the medication tubing during the end-of-day procedure. You can free-type the numbers or use the up and down arrows to adjust the time.
    • Note: At the end of a shift, medication is backed out of the medication tubing and secured in a medication safe until the next shift. Since Methadone is a very viscous medication, if the facility does not prime distilled water or a cleaning solution through the tubing at the end of the day, the remnants of medication would crystallize in the medication tubing and could cause an occlusion.
  5. Dosing: This section allows you to configure the dosing settings based on your facility and state protocols. mceclip5.png
    • Require patient signature for dosing: If enabled, this option will require the dispensing user to collect a patient signature prior to Dosing. Note: The Dose and Dose All buttons on the dosing screen will be grayed out until a signature has been collected from the patient. This is an optional feature that some facilities enable based on their state and internal protocols.
    • Allow patient signature while dosing: If enabled, the patient's signature can be collected while dispensing doses. This feature allows the patient to sign for their dose while the staff member is preparing the dose. Allowing this overlap helps decrease waiting times and speed up the check-in and check-out processes.
    • Require order signature for dosing: If enabled, MAT orders must be signed by a physician before dispensing can begin. Note: If the order is not signed by a physician, staff members will not be able to dispense the medication because the dispense button will be disabled. This feature is usually enabled based on facility and state requirements and protocols.
    • Allow dosing with insufficient quantity: If enabled, this option allows a facility to begin dispensing medication to the patient even though they do not have enough medication in their bottle to complete the transaction. If disabled (which is recommended), the system will show a warning preventing selected doses from being dispensed if they add up to more than the checked-out bottle’s remaining quantity.
      • Note: If the facility decides to use this feature, the dispensing user will need to constantly check the amount of medication remaining in the bottle to ensure that there are no air bubbles in the dispensed medication, which will lead to an insufficient dispensed quantity.
    • Allow manual dispensing: Allows dispensing through MAT Order when no Pump Konnector has been configured. Bottles must be checked in and out and managed directly through Inventory instead of the Pump screen.
    • Require Order Start Date to be an on-site day: If enabled, the start date selected in the MAT Order must always be an on-site day. For example, if the order's start date is on Monday, it means Mondays will be an on-site day for the patient. If the checkbox is disabled, when creating or editing an order, the start date is independent of the scheduled on-site days. For example, I can start the order on Monday, but even if the patient will not be onsite until Tuesday.
  6. Once you have completed the settings configuration, click the Update button. mceclip6.png
