Once a medication is checked out and primed for dosing, the Calibration feature verifies that the proper amount of medication is released, and helps avoid discrepancies in the inventory. This procedure is completed based on state requirements and facility protocols and allows you to confirm that your pump is dispensing the correct dosage.
Required Permissions: Super Admins and users with the Manage Pump feature can access the Pump tab to complete pump calibration.
Pump Calibration Process
- To begin, click on the Pump tab in the header, then click on the Calibration tab.
Note: The bottle needs to be open (in use) status to use this feature. Calibrating does not affect the inventory.
- Enter the desired calibration amount in milligrams in the Quantity field. The calibration quantity will not affect the inventory. This field is set to 100 mg by default but can be changed as needed.
- Click Dispense.
- After clicking Dispense, the Abort button becomes available and can be used to immediately stop pump activity if necessary.
- Enter the amount of physical medication dispensed in the Measured Quantity field and click Submit. The pump will automatically adjust output according to the Calibration results.
Calibration History
A history of calibration activity can be viewed by clicking on the History icon. The Calibration history is only available on the computer to which the pump is connected.
The Calibration History can be Exported to CSV or Printed as needed. This section provides a summary of calibration transaction details.
