Unit Inventory: Unit Dispensing

  • Updated

The Unit Dispensing tab allows you to create dispensing sessions for MAT medications and pre-pour unassigned doses for a selected date range.

Required Permissions: Super Admins, pharmacists, and users with the Manage Inventory feature have access to this workflow. Pharmacists will need Manage Inventory and Manage Pump access (if their facility dispenses medication via pump) for complete usage.

  1. Select Inventory in the header, open the Unit Inventory tab, and choose Unit Dispensing.
  2. Click on Unit Dispensing Session + to create a new session.
  3. Complete the required fields (indicated with asterisks (*)) in the New Unit Session window.

    • Dispense Date: The date doses will be prepared or dispensed by the pharmacist or medical licensed staff.
    • Start Date and End Date: These fields determine which expected doses will be generated based on the date range selected.
    • Pharmacist: Select the pharmacist responsible for signing off on the session.
    • Medication: Select a MAT medication from the drop-down menu previously configured in Settings> MAT.
    • Include Window Doses?: Adds window doses to the session if the setting is enabled.
      • Note: Despite what was selected in Settings, Window doses can be added by the pharmacist when creating each session.
  4. Click Unassigned Doses to add rows for pre-pouring doses. Clicking the Unassigned Doses button creates a row that allows you to record the amount and number of units.

    • Click Unassigned Doses again to add additional rows. Click on the Trash can icon to remove a row.

      • Amount: The strength of the unassigned doses to dispense.
      • # of Units: The number of unassigned doses to dispense for the strength.
  5. Click Submit to create the session.
  6. The session appears in the Unit Dispensing table with Start, Edit, and Delete actions.

    • Start: Generates expected doses for the date range. This button becomes Resume after starting.
    • Edit: Available only before the session begins. Once the session started, its parameters cannot be changed.
    • Delete: Available only before the session begins. Once the session started, it cannot be deleted.
