Unit Inventory: Report

The Unit Inventory Reports tab allows you to review a summary of all units in the safe by unit amount and medication strength.

Create a Unit Inventory Report

Follow the steps below to generate a Unit Inventory Totals Report.

  1. Click on the Inventory tab in the header, select Unit Inventory, and click on Reports.
  2. Click on Unit Inventory Totals +.
  3. In the New Unit Inventory Totals Report window, confirm the Date and Time (auto-filled and not editable).
  4. Select the Medication to report on from the drop-down list.
  5. Click Submit to generate the report and navigate to the report page.
  6. The system displays the Unit Inventory Report.

Review a Unit Inventory Report

Let's review the Unit Inventory Reports by sections.

  • The report header displays the location, medication name, and date/time of the report.
  • Totals per Unit Amount: Shows a table with every unit amount available in the current unit inventory, both assigned and unassigned, as long as they are unused.
    • Unit Amount: Displays the unit amount.
    • Total Units: Shows the total number of units per amount available on the Current Unit Inventory page. 
    • Total Amount: Displays the total amount of medication in mg per unit amount (Unit Amount × Total Units).
    • Totals: Displays the sum of the Total Units and Total Amount columns.
  • Totals per Medication Table: Shows total tablets/films per medication strength based on how units were dispensed and what remains in Current Unit Inventory.
    • Medication: Displays the medication name
    • Dosage Form: Displays the dosage form of the medication (such as tablets/films/etc.)
    • Strength: Displays the medication strength in mg
    • Total Count: The total number of tablets, films, etc. available in the Current Unit Inventory per medication.
    • Total Amount: Total amount of medication available in Current Unit Inventory per medication ([Strength] x [Total Count]).
  • Signatures and Print:
    • Witness field: Include a witness depending on your facility protocols.
    • Staff Signature: Click on the Staff Signature button.
      • Sign your name on the staff signature box and click Submit.
    • The report displays the Staff Signature and Witness Signature at the bottom.
    • The report can be printed, or exported as a PDF. Printed reports include signatures and timestamps if present.
    • Facilities can return pre-poured units to open bottles or transfer units between lot numbers to reduce waste. Click here to learn more about enabling the setting for transfers.
