Dispense Unit Inventory Doses to Patients with Stop Dosing Flags

Medically licensed staff can start patients and pre-pour doses with no restrictions, even when a patient has a Stop Dosing flag on their chart. This ability allows users with the required licensing to pre-pour a patient's doses in advance and have them ready when they arrive at the facility. 

Required Permissions: Super Admins, pharmacists, and users with the Manage Inventory feature have access to this workflow. Pharmacists will need Manage Inventory and Manage Pump access (if their facility dispenses medication via pump) for complete usage.

This scenario only applies to patients with an existing Stop Dosing flag on their chart.

1. To begin, click on a patient with an existing Stop Dosing flag.

2. When the Stop Dosing flag is present in the patient’s chart, the dispense button is grayed out. 

   

   1. Important: Once the Stop Dosing flag is resolved, the system will allow you to dispense doses to the patient again.
3. Even if a Stop Flag is present, medical staff can move forward and pre-pour doses as usual under Inventory > Unit Inventory > Unit Dispensing. Click the Start button to begin.
4. Then click on the patient to pre-pour doses as usual.
5. The patient’s chart will display Doses to Dispense, and the Unit Inventory will reflect the doses already pre-poured.
6. Once any Stop flags get resolved, the Dispense button will be available.
