This feature is currently in limited release to a select group of clients and will be rolling out to everyone in the coming months.
Sunbit is a patient financing option available exclusively through Kipu Payments that allows patients to pay their balance over time while facilities receive payment quickly and without repayment risk.
When enabled, Sunbit appears as a payment option for the patient/guarantor alongside standard payment methods such as credit card and bank transfer.
Patients can choose to finance their balance directly through the Patient Portal or via a payment link. The facility then receives payment shortly after the transaction is completed.
Facility workers will not be able to view or access Sunbit on behalf of a patient. Only patients and their guarantors will be able to complete the application.
How Sunbit Works
- A patient receives a statement through Kipu Payments.
- In the patient payment portal, the patient chooses to pay over time with Sunbit
- They complete a short application (about 30 seconds).
- Sunbit performs a soft credit check and presents available payment plans if approved. Patients will always see at least one 0% APR option for a 3-month plan, regardless of credit score.
- Once the patient accepts a plan:
- The clinic receives payment within 24 hours (minus the Sunbit 6% fee).
- Sunbit manages the repayment with the patient.
- Sunbit does not charge late fees, and patients only pay the terms they agree to at signup.
Important: Sunbit financing is non-recourse, meaning that once the clinic receives payment, Sunbit assumes responsibility for collecting payments from the patient.
