The CollaborateMD (CMD) Konnector ensures that the data in the Kipu EMR is routed to the correct CollaborateMD customer/facility account. It also ensures the following:
- The correct rendering provider is used from the Konnector.
- Billing by Program is enabled, with the correct program selected for each konnector.
- Billing by Building is enabled, with the correct location and building selected for each konnector.
Example configuration options:
- One to One: Two Kipu locations and two CMD Facilities = two konnectors
- One to Many: One Kipu location and two CMD Facilities = two konnectors. In this instance, Bill by Program or Bill by Building will need to be configured on the Kipu side to route patient information to the correct CMD facility.
- Many to One: Three Kipu locations and one CMD facility = one konnector.

CMD Interface: This section will be completed by a Kipu Staff member when the Konnector is created. When modifying this section, do not make changes to the username or password fields.
-
Match Facility Name and Facility ID to Name and Sequence #: Copy and paste the facility name from the EMR interface into the Name field, and the facility ID into the Sequence # field. Locate these fields for the facility in CMD under Customer Setup > Facilities.
-
Match Customer Name and Customer ID: Type the CMD Customer Name into this field and the Customer ID into the field below, found in the upper right of your CMD account. It typically begins with 10 or 100.
-
Billing Provider NPI/Sequence Number: Locate the sequence number of the provider in Customer Setup > Provider. This is the default Billing Rendering Provider for all claims. You can configure override rendering providers on Evaluation templates and Group sessions if needed. Click here to learn more.
- Billing Provider Last Name: Match the name in CMD.
- Billing Provider First Name: Match the name in CMD.
- Ancillary: For information on ancillary konnectors, check out this article.
- Username and password: A KIPU staff member will add this information for you when the konnector is set up. For any issue or questions, contact Integrated Billing/CollaborateMD Support.
-
Match Facility Name and Facility ID to Name and Sequence #: Copy and paste the facility name from the EMR interface into the Name field, and the facility ID into the Sequence # field. Locate these fields for the facility in CMD under Customer Setup > Facilities.
- Once done, return to the EMR and click Test Connection.
- Click Update to save the changes.
Accessing CMD from the EMR
You can access a patient's CMD record by navigating to their EMR facesheet and clicking on their unique ID number in the External Apps section.
Additionally, if you are logged into CMD and you click on the claim ID number from the Billing tab of their chart, from Billed/Batch reports or from the Batch view, you will be taken to the CMD claim.
Deleting vs Disabling Konnectors
- If a konnector has not been used on a chart (or has only been used on a patient chart that has since been deleted), you can delete a konnector by clicking on the trash icon.
- Konnectors that have already been used on a non-deleted patient chart cannot be deleted. To remove them from circulation, disable them by editing the konnector and then deselecting the Enabled checkbox (see steps 4-5 above) or setting the Status toggle to off.
- If a konnector has been disabled but appears on an active patient, clicking on the Send to CollaborateMD button will result in an error message stating that the konnector is disabled.
