  • Updated

Issue

I need to see a patient's medication history, including medications prescribed by providers outside our clinic. How can I do this?

Environment

Kipu EMR, Rcopia/DrFirst, Roles: Prescription Portal Provider, Provider Agent, Clinical Staff

Resolution

Medication history can only be accessed by clinical staff and provider users. There must be at least one active provider in the instance to allow this access.

Settings

Before you view the medication history, update your settings so that you can view the biggest window of time (up to a year) To set your default range follow the steps below.

  1. Select the Rx icon to enter Rcopia from a chart.
  2. Select the yellow hamburger icon to the left of the Rcopia logo.
  3. Then click Settings.
  4. Choose Preferences.
  5. Under Location, click on Medication.
  6. Adjust the range under Default External Medication to Last 1 year.

Access Medication History

Once the settings are updated you can pull a patient's medication history.

  1. Click on the hamburger icon and then choose Medications.
  2. Click Show Medication History in the Active Medications section
  3. Use the drop-down list to select the appropriate time period.
  4. The search results will populate (as seen below). Click the + icon to see a more detailed record of the patient's medication history.

Adding Medications from the History to Active Medications

You can add any of the prescriptions in the patient's medication history to their active medications.

  1. Click the checkbox next to the desired prescription. Then click Add Medication.
