The Orders tab provides an overview of the orders, admissions, and discharges in your Kipu instance for the current day (default), or for a date range selected by the user.
Required Permissions
This tab is available to users with the internal roles of Doctor, Nurse or Super Admin, or the external Pharmacist role.
Important
Pharmacist is an external role and should not be used in combination with internal user roles. Pharmacists can only see information relevant to medications, patient/client demographic, and payment information.
If you have chosen a certain location in the header drop-down (provided that you have access to more than one location), only buildings, patients, orders, and programs associated with that location will appear.
- To begin, click on the Dashboard tab in the header, and then the Orders.
- At the top of the page, you will see all patients scheduled to be admitted under Admissions and all patients scheduled to be discharged under Discharges (either for the current day by default, or by the selection chosen).
- To select the date range, click on on the date fields to edit the selection, and use the sliders to specify start and end time. The Now button will set the date and time to the present. Click Done to exit.
- In addition to the to/from dates the following tools are available.
- Print: Click on the Print icon to print a copy of the dashboard.
- PDF: Click on the PDF icon to download a PDF copy of the dashboard.
- Programs: The Programs filters allow you to view orders connected to patients in specific programs like Detox, Residential, or any other programs your facility offers. Programs are created under Settings > Instance. Check out our article on setting up patient programs for more information.
- Buildings: The buildings filters will show all buildings in your instance, if you have any (for example, outpatient facilities will not have buildings). Click on the name of a specific building to view the orders attached to patients in specific buildings. If you need to create Buildings, check out this article.
All Orders
By default, the All Orders tab will show orders placed on the current day, but by using the filters, users can access all orders that exist in the instance. These can be medication or action orders, regardless of status. If you have multiple locations and choose My Locations in the header, all orders in all your locations will appear here, otherwise it will display the orders in whatever location you have selected.
- Patient: This column displays the patient’s name, MR number, sex, and allergies.
- Order: Displays the order details, and any justifications entered.
- Date: Shows the order’s start date and time (and end date if any). It also shows the initials of the staff member who entered the order.
- Status: Shows the name of the doctor who ordered and signed off on the order and the date and time of the signature. If a doctor has not signed, the status will display as Pending Review.
- Inventory: This column displays patient and facility inventory for the medication, if any.
Clicking on either the patient name or on the order will take you to the order in the patient’s chart.
Medication Orders
The Medication Orders tab shows all medication orders in the system, both in use and discontinued. Discontinued or stopped orders will appear in red. The columns contain the same information as the ones defined under All Orders.
