Queue Settings [MAT]

  • Updated

Use Queues to track patient check-in and check-out times, wait time in each queue, and allow staff to complete documents, medicate patients, change orders, and collect payments, expediting patient visits. Queues are available to all Kipu EMR clients, however, there are specific settings available only to MAT users as described in this article. Non-MAT clients can review Queue Setup instructions here

Super Admins can set up and customize Queues for your facility so that patients and staff know exactly where they are in the treatment process throughout the day.

  4. Navigate to Settings > Queues to configure Queue details. Select the MAT option from the Queues Dashboard Type drop-down.

    • These Queue Names are hardcoded, so the name cannot be modified, but Super Admins can disable them if needed.

How to Create a Queue

Let's review how to create a new Queue.

  1. Click on Add Queue to build your custom queues.blobid5.png
  2. Fill out the following information in the Add New Queue window:
    1. Name: Enter the name of the Queue based on your facility workflows. This is the Queue display name for the Queue Display.
    2. Patient Processes: Optionally, select the tab on the patient's chart that should open in the Queue by default for patients being processed within that queue.
    3. Color: Select the color to be assigned to the Queue.
    4. Status: Select the Enabled option for the queue to be visible and available for users. The Disabled button will not display the Queue.
    5. Default for Check-In: This drop-down allows for the patient to be assigned to the Queue by default once checked in. Choose Yes to automatically assign the patient to the Queue upon check-in. Most facilities default patients to the Dosing Queue once they have checked in, but you can select the desired Check-In Queue based on your facility protocols.
      • Please Note: Only one Queue can be defaulted Yes for check-in.
    6. Roles: One or multiple roles can be assigned to each Queue, depending on which users will process the patient. Options include Admin, Case Manager, Doctor, Other Therapist, Provider, Tech, Utilization Review Internal, Biller, Chart Auditor, Nurse, Patient Coordinator, Records Admin, and Therapist.
    7. Appointment Types for Check In: This section is specifically for use with the Kiosk feature. Patients with a scheduled appointment type selected in the Queue setup will be automatically checked into that Queue instead of the default Queue. Additionally, you can include a special message to display to the patient in the kiosk when they're checking in. Click here for instructions.
  3. Click Submit.

Just so you know, once you have set up your facility queues, you can always edit and customize the information by clicking on the Edit (pencil) icon.
