10. Walkthrough Facility and Identify Safety Resources

A facility walkthrough provides patients with information about the facility’s layout, amenities, and services. During the walkthrough, the patient learns about key areas within the building, such as therapy offices, exercise facilities, medication windows, and eating areas. Facility staff also provide information about fire escape routes, emergency exits, and the locations of fire extinguishers.

These walkthroughs help reduce patient anxiety and increase comfort by familiarizing them with their surroundings, making them feel more confident and prepared to use the facility’s resources and services throughout their care. Conducting these walkthroughs and identifying safety resources is a State and Joint Commission requirement. Auditors often request documentation of this task's completion.

Note: This process only describes the admissions process for clients not using a CRM or integrated RCM platform.
