The eFax feature allows authorized users to fax Doctor's Orders directly to your pharmacy of choice. Please note that an electronically faxed order is not an electronic prescription.
This article contains instructions for setting up pharmacies, permissioning users, and sending faxes from the patient chart.
Settings
Enabling eFax
The eFax must be enabled under Settings > Instance.
Adding Pharmacies
To use eFax, you need to add at least one Pharmacy Konnector, but you may add as many pharmacies as needed.
- Click on your initials and select Settings.
- Open the Integrations tab and choose Konnectors.
-
Name the Konnector and select Pharmacy from the Konnector type drop-down.
- Click Register.
- Check the Use this vendor box.
- For master locations, check the box for each location that will eFax orders to this pharmacy.
- Complete the pharmacy location details and don't forget the Fax number for orders.
- Add an optional footer text for your faxes.
- Click Update to save.
Setting Authorized Users
Users that will send electronic faxes to a pharmacy need the Manage Pharmacy Orders feature added to their user profile. Manage Faxes feature allows the user to monitor and manage faxes but won't allow sending faxes.
Using eFax
Digital faxes are sent directly from the Physician’s Orders tab of the patient chart.
- To send a fax, click Fax to pharmacy.
- The eFax tool will list all medication orders that are available to send to the pharmacy (the list excludes any orders that have already been faxed).
- Use the + icon to select the orders to include in the fax.
- Each selected order will display a checkmark.
- Click Preview Fax.
- Review the order details in addition to patient demographic and payment information.
- If you use multiple pharmacies, select the appropriate one from the To drop-down.
- Click Send.
- Once a fax is sent, the Doctor’s Orders tab will be updated to reflect the status of the fax (generated, sending, delivered) with the date.
- Any errors in transmission will be on the Manage Faxes tab so the fax can be re-sent.
Orders are not required to be reviewed before sending the eFax. Follow your pharmacy's requirements and your organization's policies to ensure compliance.
Viewing eFaxes
All eFaxes can be viewed and resent under the Manage Faxes tab. Click here to learn more.
If you need to resend the fax that was sent to an incorrect pharmacy by accident, you can Remove the fax from this page, and then send a brand new fax from patient's Doctor's orders tab.
