Outcomes Measurement: Overview and Setup

  • Updated

The Kipu EMR supports fully integrated Outcomes Measurement tools. This feature supports the Joint Commission 2018 revised requirement for behavioral healthcare organizations to assess outcomes by using standardized tools or instruments (CTS.03.01.09). You will notice the outcomes icon on all Outcomes content or settings.

Enable Outcomes Measurement

Super Admins can complete the following setup steps:

  1. Click on your initials and select Settings.
  2. Open the Instance tab.mceclip1.png
  3. Check Outcomes Measurement in the System options section.mceclip3.png
  4. Scroll to the end of the page and click Update to save changes.

If you decide to stop using the Kipu EMR Outcomes Measurements, you can disable the feature from your Instance Settings. Disabling the feature will not delete any historical data (including patient assessments and issue reports). Outcomes can be re-enabled at any time.

Patient Chart Tab for Outcomes

Enabling Outcomes automatically creates a Patient Assessments tab on the patient chart. The Patient Assessment tab allows you to enroll and unenroll the patient in programs, send individual assessments, and evaluate results.mceclip4.png

The name of this tab can be updated in the Patient Processes section of Patient Settings.

If you have previously enabled and disabled Outcomes, the tab may be missing from your patient charts. Simply create a new tab with the Outcomes checkbox enabled to restore the Outcomes tab. This tab type can only be used once per chart.

Set Up the Users

Super Admins have access to all Outcomes-related features and processes by default. Records Admins have access to everything except setup. If you need to grant access to Outcomes to other staff members, assign one of the corresponding Outcomes Measurement roles:

  • Assessment manager allows the user manage program templates, reports, and complete all patient chart actions.
  • Assessment operator allows the user to manage reports and patient chart actions except deleting assessments.
  • Outcomes evaluator allows the user to view and evaluate completed assessments and issues reports.

Here is the table that explains what each role can accomplish:
