Glucose readings can be documented on the patient chart using any of the following methods:
- In the Doctor's Orders tab
- In the Med Log tab
- In an Evaluation (single or log)
Not seeing Glucose as an option? Check out this article on configuring integrated assessments.
Required Roles: Integrated Assessments can only be logged by Super Admins, Record Admins, Doctors, Nurses, and Techs.
Doctor's Orders
The Doctor's Orders tab on the Patient Chart allows you natively record Glucose entries. The name of this tab can be customized per organization, so this is the tab setup as Orders in the Patient Processes settings.
Let's review how to log glucose readings:
- From the patient chart, open the Doctor's Orders tab.
- The top of the page allows a quick snapshot of the patient's vitals and integrated assessments.
- Click the + icon next to Glucose.
- Complete the log entry and click Submit.
- The section updates to display the recently logged information.
- Click on the History (clock) icon to view a full list of the patient's past glucose entries.
- From this pop-up, you can view the glucose log details including who logged the result and when.
Med Log
The Med Log tab (often called MARs or MORs) on the Patient Chart allows you natively record Glucose entries, just like the Doctor's Orders tab. The name of this tab can be customized per organization, so this is the tab setup as MARs in the Patient Processes settings.
Please review the steps above to add a Glucose entry.
Evaluation
Glucose logs can also be documented in any Evaluation form where the patient.glucose_log field is included. Evaluations allow you to document the patient's Glucose and view the patient's documented Glucose History. Click here for more information on editing Evaluation Templates.
Glucose Log vs. Glucose Reading
Depending on how you configure your evaluation form with the Glucose field, you can document a running log of all glucose readings in a single form, or you can add a single glucose reading for each form.
