Lab Partner Integration Update 2026

  • Updated

Built with our lab partners in mind.

Investments in integration quality, billing reliability, and partner enablement.

Kipu's integration with our lab partners is a foundational piece of how we serve behavioral health organizations across 6,000+ facilities. Over the past several months, we've invested across workflow, data quality, and infrastructure — designed to reduce manual work on the lab side, support cleaner billing claim submission, and keep electronic requisitions and results moving without delays.

Recent delivery highlights

What we've shipped.

Cleaner payor data

Retired the free-typed insurance option, so facilities must select from the Kipu payor database or their custom payors — reducing "unknown payor" cases coming into your queue and the manual payor matching that goes with them. The Lab Testing section is now standard, with optional required-field configuration so you receive richer bill-to, insurance, and guarantor information at order time.

Cleaner billing claim submission

Provider Signature Delegation lets a designated team member (e.g., a head nurse) sign lab orders on a provider's behalf. Combined with smaller signing enhancements, this is increasing the share of lab orders signed by the facility before submission — a meaningful factor when labs submit billing claims to payors.

More complete requisitions

New workflow shortcuts help facilities finish and submit electronic requisitions more consistently — reducing situations some lab partners have reported where specimens arrive without a completed electronic requisition.

Reliable integration infrastructure

Behind-the-scenes investments in the integration platform itself — focused on keeping electronic requisitions flowing to labs and results returning to EMRs without delays — plus expanded tooling for the Kipu lab integrations team to support partner requests more efficiently.

Partner enablement

Launched lab partner release notes and webinars so your teams stay current on what's new — and how to use it.

On the roadmap

What's next.

Continued payor data improvements

Continued reduction in "unknown payor" cases through additional data quality improvements.

Insurance card access

Easier access to patient insurance cards for lab partners.

Enhanced CDR

Making it easier to pull PDF supporting documentation from the EMR chart with less manual effort.

API access to KipuLabs data

Direct programmatic access to KipuLabs data for partner systems.

Thank you for partnering with us.

We're committed to making the Kipu–lab integration progressively more accurate, reliable, and lower-touch.
