Issue
The Create button is missing from the Lab Orders tab on the patient chart, preventing the user from creating a new medical test order.
Environment
Kipu EMR, Lab Orders, Roles: Super Admin, Records Admin, Doctor, & Nurse
Resolution
The Create button can be missing for a variety of reasons, most commonly if the patient is missing information on their chart. To verify the cause, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
- Does any other patient have the Create button under the Lab Orders Tab?
- If yes, then the issue is specific to this patient's chart. Check step 2.
- If no, then the issue is with general configuration. Check steps 3 and 4.
- Open the patient's facesheet/information tab and click the Edit Client button. Verify that the patient has:
- An admission date
- An assigned location
- The facesheet is validated
- Is the Location interfaced to the Lab in Settings > Integrations > Konnectors? (Only a Kipu team member can complete this verification step.)
- If not, and you would like to have an interface in this location, you can contact the lab team at
- Is the ordering doctor's user profile active (not disabled or locked), and does the profile have an NPI and access to the location the patient is in? (The Kipu team can help verify what providers are currently approved by the lab.)
- If you have a provider approved by the lab and added to the interface, ensure their user profile has the Doctor role, NPI number, and assigned location(s).
- If you don't have an ordering provider added to the interface and need to add them, please contact your lab representative. The lab must email LabSupport@kipuhealth.com with the approval to add the new physician to the interface.
If you are able to verify all of the above steps and the button still is not showing up, contact the lab team at LabSupport@kipuhealth.com.
