I Keep Getting “ePrescribe Error: Primary Phone Is Not Valid” When Trying to Enroll a Patient in eRx

  • Updated

Issue

There is a phone number listed on the patient's facesheet but the error message "ePrescribe Error: Primary Phone is not valid" is still coming up when trying to enroll the patient in eRx.

Environment

Kipu EMR, eRx Users, Chart: Information tab (Facesheet), Enroll in eRx

Resolution

To resolve the error message "ePrescribe Error: Primary Phone is not valid" when trying to enroll a patient in eRx, confirm the phone number has been entered validly following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Information tab of the patient's chart, then select the Edit Patient/Client button.
  2. Scroll down to the Phone Number box. Check that the number is entered in a 10-digit format (example: 000-000-0000). Adding a +1 or having a blank phone number field will cause the invalid phone number error to occur.
  3. Select the Show Facesheet button to confirm the changes, then proceed to the Doctor's Orders tab.
  4. From the Doctor's Orders tab click the Enroll in eRx button.
  5. The eRx Portal will open a new page if there are no further errors, showing they are enrolled successfully.
