Allergies

  • Updated

You can record patient allergies and review the patient's allergy history from the facesheet. Allergy functionality is always available on the patient's information tab, but can also be included in evaluations.

No Known Allergies

To ensure patient safety, the Kipu EMR will not assume the patient has no known allergies if you do not add allergies. You must actively select No Known Allergies/NKA or Add Allergy before the facesheet can be validated. The Allergies field will display as blank until a selection is made.

Entering Food Allergies

Limited Release: The Food Allergies standardization feature is currently in limited release to a select group of clients and will be rolling out to everyone in the coming weeks. Until that time, you can continue to manually type in food allergies.

Food allergies are standardized within the EMR and are added to the patient facesheet and visible on the Information tab and within evaluations. Super Admins can add custom food allergens by following these instructions.

Note: Any food allergies added prior to this update will no longer be editable. To make updates, please delete the previous entry and create a new entry using the standardized Allergen drop-down.

  1. Open the patient chart and click Edit Patient.
  2. Scroll to the Allergies and Food Restrictions section and click Add Allergy.mceclip1.png
  3. Select Food from the Allergy type drop-down. mceclip1.png
  4. Begin typing in the Allergen and choose a single option from the drop-down. mceclip3.png

Disabled Food Allergens

If an allergen previously added to the patient chart is disabled by a Super Admin, the Allergy field for that particular item will be locked and no longer editable. This preserves the data and history in the patient record. If a change is needed, it should be deleted, and a new entry added.
