Why Isn't Data Entered in the EMR Automatically Saving?

  • Updated

Issue

I entered information in the Kipu EMR but and the autosave didn't work so I lost my data. Why didn't the autosave work?

Environment

Kipu EMR, any forms, any users

Resolution

In most forms (evaluations, consent forms, facesheets, group sessions, etc.) when you edit a field and exit out of it (by clicking/tapping elsewhere, or tabbing to another field) the system will automatically save the data in that field.

  1. Navigate to the desired field and enter text. Click anywhere outside the field.
  2. You must wait for the "piano keys" to appear and disappear again before entering data in the next field.

  3. These "piano keys" indicate that the system is saving your data. If you add data anywhere while they are visible, that new information will not be saved.

Alternatively, you can save your information by using the Update button.

  1. Click Update at the bottom of the page to save. In this case, you will see both the "piano keys" and the Update button will say "Working...". You must wait until the "piano keys" disappear and the Working... button returns to Update before adding new information or otherwise navigating away.

Note: If you spend a long time composing in a field, you may potentially be timed out while you are composing text. We recommend that you periodically either manually click Update or click/tab outside the text box to save your work. If you are timed out, you will have a 60-second window to re-enter your username and password to save your work. If you do not enter your username and password in that window, you will be logged out and your work will not be saved.
