How Do I Make a STAT Order?

  • Updated

Issue

What do I do if the doctor advises giving the patient an early dose but there isn't an option for this action in the Med Log? Or what do I do if the patient has a multi-dose option and the user chooses the lower dose then later decides they need the full dose but the Med Log is already updated with the lower dose?

Environment

Kipu EMR, Roles: Doctor, Nurse, and Super Admin, Features: Med Log, Doctors Orders

Resolution

Users with medical roles, like Doctor, Nurse, or Super Admin, can follow the steps below to create a STAT order.

  1. From the Doctors Orders tab select the Custom Order button.
  2. Fill out the fields indicated by asterisks (*) as these required fields. Leave the Start Date and Duration fields alone till the Frequency is selected.
    • Note: If your facility uses eRx orders, do not select the eRx checkbox or it will send a request to the pharmacy.
  3. Select STAT from the Frequency drop-down. Selecting this option will gray out the Start Date and Duration fields because it is a one-time order.
  4. Click the Submit button.
  5. Next go to the Med Log tab.
  6. The STAT order now appears in your Med Log to be marked as given.
