I Accidentally Invited a Patient’s Guardian as a Patient, How Do I Fix the Issue?

I connected a patient's guardian or guarantor to the portal as a patient. In other words, the portal user is connected to the correct patient, but with the incorrect relationship type. How do I fix this mistake?

Environment

Kipu EMR, Patient Portal, Roles: Super Admins, Features: Manage Users, Manage Portal Accounts

Solution

  1. From your initials, click Manage Users.

  2. Open the Portal Accounts tab. This tab shows both Patients and Contacts by default.

  3. Filters: Use the available filters or search bar to narrow down your patient/contact list.

  4.  Locate the desired patient, and click on the Edit icon to open their Portal Account Details page.

  5. Click on the Disconnect icon next to the chart. Disconnect all charts with the wrong relationship if necessary.
  6. Open the patient’s facesheet.
  7. Make sure the guardian’s email is in the contact email field.
  8. Click Invite to Portal next to the guardian’s contact. 
    • The patient/contact will need to set their password one more time to re-connect this chart to the portal user. They can use the same password they had before.
    • Return to the portal user account page and update the portal user’s name to reflect the guardian’s name manually, otherwise, you will continue seeing the patient's name
