Introducing the Messages Availability Feature for Portal
This new functionality brings greater flexibility to our newest portal messaging feature.
-
Choose who can communicate with patients and their contacts by assigning the Available for portal messages role to your staff in their profiles. Without this new role, staff members will not be able to send Portal messages to patients/contacts, and the portal user will not see them on the Recipient’s list when composing a new message.
You can bulk assign this role under Manage Users > Staff > Assign Roles.
-
Choose if you want any user with the Available for portal messages role to exchange messages with portal users, or reserve this right for Care Team members only. You can change this setting under Settings > Portal (for master instances, customization by location is also available).
The Care Team Only option will be selected for the instances with My Messages functionality enabled. Care team members will need the Available for portal messages role in order to exchange messages with the portal users.
Note
To set up the Messages Availability feature, users must have the Manage Portal Settings role. The Available for Portal Messages feature and Settings > Portal tab are not visible for regular Super Admins. For more information click here.

Portal (EMR): Updated the way re-admitted/transferred charts connect to existing portal accounts. Previously, in some cases, an EMR user could have shared forms with a portal user in a new chart, but the portal user got a signature error and was unable to sign the form because the connection between the portal user and the new chart was incomplete.
Now, the readmitted and transferred charts will either automatically connect to the existing portal user or require the EMR user to re-invite them if the system cannot validate all checks for the auto-connect.
-
Portal: Fixed an issue where portal users got duplicated email notifications whenever a document was shared with them.

-
Settings: Fixed an issue where users could not save a facesheet if the building the patient was assigned to was deleted. We no longer allow Super Admins to delete buildings, rooms, or beds assigned to patients under Settings > Rooms. However, they can still disable old buildings, rooms, and beds that are no longer in use. For more information click here.
-
Users: Fixed an issue where new EMR users could not complete the account registration if they reset their password before clicking the activation link.
