How Do I Duplicate or Make a Draft From of a Template?

  • Updated

Issue

I need to create a duplicate or draft of a consent form or evaluation form template.

Environment

Kipu EMR, Role: Super Admin, Features: Manage Templates, Templates: Consent Forms, Templates: Evaluations

Resolution

There are two ways of duplicating forms in the Kipu EMR. Both methods will result in copies of the original form as a new template, and the process is the same for both consent forms and evaluations.

Option 1

  1. Select the Templates tab, then either the Consent Forms tab or the Evaluations tab.
  2. Locate the form you want to duplicate and click on the Edit Pencil button.
  3. At the top of the template settings click on the Create Draft button. You will now have an in use version and a draft version of the template.
  4. Select Draft version from the top drop-down, make any necessary changes to the template and select the Update button.
  5. In the draft version, click on the Make in Use checkbox, then click on the Unlink Version checkbox to separate the old template from your new one.
  6. Once the templates are unlinked you'll be able to see the two separate copies.

Option 2

  1. Select the Templates tab, then either the Consent Forms tab or the Evaluations tab.
  2. Locate the form you want to duplicate then click on the Export button.
  3. A .json file, known as a template, will download to your computer.
  4. Return to the top of the Templates page and click the Import button.

  5. Next, click the Browse/Choose Files button on the pop-up.
  6. Search for the .json file located in the Downloads folder, then click Open.
  7. Select the Import button in the pop-up window now that the template has been selected.
  8. There are now two versions of the same form in the list of templates. The lighter gray text with the - import label will be the latest one created and not enabled, the black text will be the original form and is enabled.
