I need to update the First Contact info on a patient's facesheet but it's gone, how can I update it?

Issue

The First Contact section is meant to be used/updated when a patient is in pre-admission status and is hidden from view once the patient is admitted.

Environment

Kipu EMR, Facesheet/Information page

Resolution

If the First Contact information needs to be changed/removed after a patient is admitted, you'll need to return the patient to the pre-admission status to make the First Contact section re-appear.

  1. Write down the patient's Admission Date and MR number (so you can easily add it back to their chart later, for example, copy those details into a Word document or paper).
  2. Remove the Admission Date and MR number from the facesheet and click the Update button at the end of the page to ensure the system accepts the changes.
  3. Click the Show Facesheet button and then click the Edit Patient button to refresh the chart. The First Contact area should now appear.
  4. Make your changes to the First Contact section.
  5. Next, add in the patient's original Admission Date and MR Number that you previously copied down. You will need to override the new MR number that the system tries to give the chart when clicking Create MR Number.
  6. Next, click Update at the end of the facesheet to save your changes.
