Why am I getting the error "MR Number (Medical Record Number) is missing" when I try to add forms to a patient chart during pre-admission?

  • Updated

Issue

I need to add a document to a pre-admission patient's chart but I am getting an error message that says "MR Number (Medical Number) is missing."

Environment

Kipu EMR, Templates Tab, Role: Super Admin, Records Admin, Admin, Patient Coordinator, Case Manager, Feature: Manage templates - consents and evaluations

Resolution

In order to resolve this issue, the document needs to be selected as a pre-admission form on the template so that the documents can be completed before they are admitted and have MR numbers. Here are the steps to verify if a form is marked for pre-admission:

To change a form requiring an MR number, you will need to change the Form Type within the template.

  1. Begin by navigating to Templates and selecting Consent Forms or Evaluations depending on form type.
  2. Select the Edit pencil for the form you need to update.
  3. Then, if you are adding a consent form, click on the Consent form type drop-down, choose Pre-admission form, and select the Update button.
  4. If you are creating an evaluation form, click on the Evaluation type drop-down, choose Pre-admission form, and select the Update button.
