The Settings section allows Super Admins to customize the Kipu EMR and its related functionality, features, integrations, and system behavior.
Required Permissions: Users must have Super Admin role to be able to access the majority of these settings. Some settings like Scheduler or Portal, can be given with a specific role or feature.
Available Settings
Some Settings tabs will only be available when enabled in your Instance Settings (like Outcome Measurements and Flags). Other tabs are only available based on system configuration set up by Kipu Staff like MAT or Labs tabs.
Settings Tab | Description |
Patients |
The settings available under the Patients tab allow you to customize the options that will appear in your patient facesheet, including patient, insurance, rounds, and contact information. The Facesheet is the Information tab of the Patient Chart. This is also where you can create additional patient chart tabs. Click here for more information on patient processes. |
Substances | The Kipu EMR allows you to record and report on the patient's primary, secondary, and tertiary Drug of Choice using an evaluation form with the patient.drug_of_choice field. The Substances tab allows you to customize this list. |
Medication | This is a legacy tab with the following message "The Medication List is now managed by a standardized database of drug reference content." |
Food Allergies | Use this tab to create new food allergies, disable allergens, and re-enable disabled allergens. |
Orders |
The Orders Settings tab allows you to create custom frequencies for Medication/Action Orders. For EMR instances using the Lab Interface, you will also use this tab to create Statements of Medical Necessity for lab testing and set Lab Order Frequencies for your bi-directional lab or analyzer interface. |
Rooms | The Rooms setting tab allows you to create buildings, rooms, and beds to track and manage your patient occupancy. |
Tags & Filters | The Tags & Filters tab allows you to create standard tags and group together tags into filters for use on the census. |
User | The User tab allows you to create titles for the user functions present in your organization. These functions are crucial for identifying which users can complete and sign Evaluations and for determining which Flags users can add to a patient chart. |
Company |
The Company setting tab allows you to manage your company and individual location settings. This includes key information like NPI and address; and brand-specific items like logos and form headers. This is also where you can disable a location if you no longer are using it. |
Contacts | From the Contacts settings tab, you can create contacts categories like Insurance, Provider, Referrer, or Other. |
Integrations | The Integration tab allows you to set up Integrations and Konnectors for your Kipu Instance, including eRx pharmacy konnectors. |
Golden Thread | The Golden Thread settings tab allows you to review the existing Golden Thread components and create your custom content, as needed to fit your specific treatment protocols. |
Instance |
Your Instance Settings act as the control center for your Kipu EMR account. This section allows you to enable/disable features and manage system-wide settings. This tab also allows you to manage your autocomplete services like ICD-10 codes, Insurances, |
Payors |
The Payors Setting tab allows users to create a custom insurance database with unique shortcuts or modify existing insurance shortcuts. Note: Users with the Manage Payors feature can access this tab. |
Kipu Account | This settings tab contains important information about your Kipu EMR account including MR numbers creation counts, census information, and current system version. |
Kipu Labs | This tab is only available to clients with an integrated lab interface. Here you can check the status of your integrated labs, set up Medical Test profiles, and act on Requested Patient Forms Batches. |
Outcomes Measurement | This tab is only available when enabled in your instance settings and allows you to set the max reportable range and review logs for scheduled outcomes. |
Restore |
The Restore section allows you to retrieve deleted patients, forms from patients' charts (evaluations and consents) and templates (evaluations and consents). This area will also display the name of the user who originally deleted the documents. |
Billing | This tab is primarily used for organizations with a billing integration (AveaOffice, CMD, or HL7) and allows you to set up Codes, Services, Provider Settings, Location Settings, and Payor Roles. This tab is also where you can configure the Patient Ledger, which is available for all EMR users. |
Flags | This tab allows you to configure the available Flags and Flag Categories. |
Notifications | Notifications allow you to configure automated in-app (toast) and email notifications activated by specific events in the EMR. |
MAT | This tab is only available to MAT facilties and allows you to control MAT Settings, Inventory Settings, and Location Settings, including MAT Medications. |
Phases | This tab is only available to MAT facilities and allows you to set up and customize Phase rules required to advance to the next phase of treatment. |
Queues | This tab allows you to create and manage Queues. Queues are available to all Kipu EMR clients, however, there are specific settings available only to MAT users. |
Portal | This tab allows you to set up branding for the patient portal by location and enable My Messages. This tab is only available to users with the Manage Portal Settings role. |
Scheduler | This tab is only available to instances enabled for Scheduler and allows you to customize Appointment Statuses, Appointment Types, Schedule Templates, Resource Schedules, Appointment Communications, Scheduler Preferences, and Migrate Appointments. |
Kipu Access Management | This tab directs you to the Manage Users page. |
